My Memories from the
Feast of Tabernacles By Adam Boyd
There was an inviting, warm-spirited feeling in the air as I walked into the front door of the Ocean Creek Conference Center. Cheerful smiles and joyous laughter filled the room. Most importantly, the wondrous light of our Almighty Father shined upon everyone. The Feast of Tabernacles 2004 in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina had a terrific turn out.
Despite the many hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean, North Myrtle Beach wasn’t affected, and the weather was delightfully pleasant. A crowd of brethren, a little over 300 (including many “refugees” deterred from Pensacola) traveled from diverse places to come and worship God as we are commanded to do in Leviticus 23:33-44. This was the inaugural year for the Infuse program. Even though it was originally scheduled to take place in Pensacola, everyone put endless effort and worked hard to put it together in Myrtle Beach. Exercise classes at 7 in the morning enticed those with a health inclination and a will to get up early. The Infuse services began at 9 am kicking off with live music, and continued into involved, young adult oriented messages. The main service was held at 11 am. We were all blessed to hear enlightening, prudent messages every morning. Activities included two dances, a fun show, and a beach party, outing to a local amusement complex and volunteering to help build a house for the Habitat for Humanity. The Feast of Tabernacles is a wonderful family festival and is very spiritually uplifting to all who attend. Everyone will eventually experience this Feast of our Lord as it says in Zechariah 14:16-19: (where the time setting is in the future) everyone will “go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.” We understand that it’s commanded for us to keep this statute forever in our generations, as it’s written in verse 41 of Leviticus 23. If the Feast is just a taste of the Kingdom of God, imagine what the whole meal will be like. I can’t wait. |
