There was a time in my early life that I wondered when life was going to begin for me and when life did begin, would it be God’s purpose? As time went on, it seemed as though I would allow, whether real or not, an obstacle in get in my way. The greatest obstacles for me were fear and worry. Fear to step out and worry that God would not be pleased when I did.
At one time or another, everyone has struggled with what the purpose, meaning and direction of one’s life should be. Every road traveled has its challenges. Sometimes, life in general, can seem like a continuous newsreel of unfulfilling futility. Because we live in a world torn by war, natural disasters, disease, sickness, injustice and corrupt governments, it can be difficult to figure out what God’s purpose is for one’s life.
While it is God’s ultimate plan for all of mankind to enter His family and become sons and daughters of His, “Beloved, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made know. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is” (I John 3:2), God also desires us to live happy and successful lives. Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Do not be fearful of having a successful life.
The Israelites, when on the doorstep of the Promised Land, were afraid to take the final step. Their fear came from worry. They lost their trust in God even though they had experienced many miracles. When the time comes to take hold of the prize in your life, do not worry or be fearful. Remember all the miracles God has performed to bring you to the place you stand. Trust Him always. Pray continually that you remain true to His plan and purpose for your life. Keeping God in your life removes the fear to reach the goal and the worry you will not please Him.
It is my prayer that each of you achieves and fulfills your human potential and put your God-given talents to good use. But, more importantly, it is my prayer that you keep your eye on the ultimate purpose for your life, which is becoming like Jesus Christ and entering the Kingdom of God.
Sincerely,
