2005 Feast of Tabernacles
Gulf Shores, AL
By Tyler Barnett

The highlight of The Feast of Tabernacles this year was the many sermons and sermonettes given by the ministers. But you can get them all on CD, so I will fill you in on what happened with Infuse.  If you were at Feast site other than Gulf Shores, Alabama, surely you were spiritually and physically fed, were stoked to be reunited with folks from last year, and enjoyed a little time to relax, but what you really missed out on was Infuse.  Infuse is not only a quarterly magazine, but it is also an exciting program incorporated into the Feast that gives us, the youth, the power to do as we are called to do: EVANGELIZE!

An umbrella theme to this year’s Feast was evangelism.  It was echoed in the main services at the top of George Ramocan’s lungs and seemed to get the Church of God fired up about one of their crucial duties as Christians.  With Ramocan’s firepower and motivation, those who attended the Infuse service were given the ammo: the Great Commission binder

Mike James, a newly ordained minister, compiled scriptures outlining God’s authority on the Sabbath, life after death, the Holy Days, Women in Ministry, His family, His laws, and His Kingdom.  The binder has already proven indispensable in my own studies.  I have used it as an aide to show scriptural proof of my beliefs to family and a few co-workers.  The content is the truth, with no sugar coating. For many Christians it is not very easy to digest, so Infuse was careful to teach us how to use our new found knowledge.  Among many other things, Mike James included a doctrinal crash course, a personal/spiritual progress report, and a contact list of “who’s who” in the Church.  The Great Commission binder gives us the tools to allow God to change us so that we may, as the Infuse T-shirt says: “Go Teach All.”

Some of the events sponsored by Infuse were a volleyball tourney, a ladies luncheon and Habitat for Humanity.  All were a big hit, but the ladies luncheon in particular is quite memorable.  A few gentlemen from Infuse and I had the opportunity to volunteer and serve the ladies their lunch.  I listened in on the guest speaker Sharon Abercrombie, a Christian Counselor, as she encouraged the women to realize they were “Woven With a Purpose.”

Habitat for Humanity, as always, was a big hit.  We had so much FUN grouting, scraping, laying tile, shoveling dirt, laying sod, sweeping. It was almost unreal!  Community service is another aspect of our duties as Christians that often times gets overlooked.  “Habitat” was another opportunity to serve, but more importantly allowed us to think about serving in our own communities.

One last thing that I took from this year’s Feast of Tabernacles is a sense of community.  I made more friends and realized more brothers and sisters in Faith.  The greatest feeling to know is that others are praying for me.  Infuse is a proactive aspect of The Church of God International.  It is still an active aspect of His church, transcending the boundaries of this text, remaining in our thoughts long after the Feast is over, and infusing our prayers as a daily reminder that we are obligated to “Go Teach All.” i
