We Are Heirs of God and Joint Heirs with Christ
...And That’s No Lie
By Margie Marang
God can do anything. But there is something God cannot do. “Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began” (Titus 1:1-2).
“Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath that by two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who had fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us” (Hebrews 6:17-18).
Did you catch that? The one thing that God cannot do is lie. Everything God says in the Bible has to be true. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1). As long as we have the Holy Spirit we are in the category of Romans 8:1.
Remember we are heirs of God and joint heirs of Jesus Christ if we have the Holy Spirit. “But if the Spirit of Him that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit that dwells in you” (Romans 8:11).
How will we make it into God’s Kingdom? You have to have Gods Holy Spirit when you die or when Christ returns to this earth. “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if in deed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:16-8).
If we are children of God and Heirs of God and joint heirs of Christ then what ever Jesus inherits, we will inherit also. So when we receive God’s Holy Spirit we become very special to God because at that time we become a child of God. If you have children, are your children special to you? Of course they are. God is the same. His children are very special to Him.
What has Christ inherited? “God who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds” (Hebrews 1: 1-2).
Remember we are joint Heirs with Jesus, and He has inherited all things. “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things” (Romans 8:31-32)?
Remember, God cannot lie. We get everything God has and that includes all of the Promises. i
