Father's Ode
By Drew DeJarnette

When he cry’s I cry.
When he laughs, my tears dissipate.
One look into his eyes,
Can cause the world to simply pass by.

When I sneeze he startles.
In his nightmares he screams out.
But each time I am there,
To turn his bitter eyes into sparkles.

In complete awe I see.
He grows stronger with every breath.
Each day is a new challenge,
Filled with glee and misery.

What I see is me.
Staring down, my eyes reflect upon themselves.
In perpetual hope I pray,
That he ends up a better man than me.
