The Kingdom of God is not going to be voted in by men. God’s Kingdom will be established here on earth by Jesus Christ, and it is that same Kingdom every Christian looks and longs for. Jesus set the example when He said, “my Kingdom is not of this world.” When Christ said this to His disciples, He knew they were not of this world and He also knew they, as all of mankind are, are citizens of one of the many countries in the world.

We live in a corrupt world and we, Christians, are the citizens who are the salt and light of the world. As we live in this corrupt world, we keep our eye and focus on God’s Kingdom. We retard the corruption and bring light to the world when we live by the standards of Christ—the virtues and values of Christian faith. Jesus gave us the principle for Christian Citizenship when he said in Matthew 22:21, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” In the United States, our Caesar is our government. However, it doesn’t matter where one lives, every Christian should have the attitude of putting others before self with no thought for recognition or reward.

When Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself” in Matthew 22:39, I believe He meant both one on one and the neighbor never met. Many a Christian will take the time to prepare a hot meal for a sick neighbor and ignore the importance of stopping a policy that is destructive to human life.

So what does the term “Christian Citizenship” really mean? Through the pages of this issue of Infuse, understanding has been shed on this very important question. As representatives of God’s Kingdom, it is the responsibility of Christians everywhere to show the world by example the love of God and this is best done in an attitude of humble service. Sincerely,

Noni
