His Watching Eyes
By Chay Leonardo

Many people live as though they serve one master, their self. Look everywhere around you. I completely acknowledge to you today I am an egotistical individual. Honestly, I’m barely thinking of what God wants from me right now. I have to force myself everyday into the habit of allowing God’s Holy Spirit to show me. I’m pretty sure I’m not by myself either. You are probably the same as me.

This gets me to thinking. What are we really doing here? That whole purpose thing, yes, but also, it is just so hard to stay with Him. Isn’t it? My focus is blurred. I get caught up in what I’m going to eat or wear or smell. Just ridiculous stuff. Lord, let me begin to see how I can view only You in my everyday life and the responsibilities I have for everyone else.

God is an Awesome God
By Lynda Smith

Give us your strength a way to pray, to live, to drink and eat
Let us live for your greatness, deeds, will and mercies sure

Lead us today mindful of your helpful ways
A place to lay our head is the gain, mindful of your perfectness

Live in us your grace with your goodness gives this to us
We will honor you in knowledge of the truth with the wisdom

The characterness of the fruits of the spirit is fineness
We need comfort, peace, direction, guidance and safety
Good health and well-being for the blessings of the children and animal kind

Forgive us our sins however great or small for you are our healer
I give this day forever more, thank you for everything all is yours...

   Amen.

I believe the will of Jesus in our day-to-day lives is the full-on realization that Christ’s eyes are watching us in every situation. This thought is especially relevant in regards to our responsibilities as workers. When we clock in, doesn’t our integrity really start showing itself? All we are and proclaim to be is on the line when at work. When situations arise that are less than preferable, peers and partners may not just glance at our reactions; they may very well be staring. My current job, for instance, is in a very volatile environment. Not part of the time, but all of the time. Christ has truly illustrated to me how my Christian witness is always on display.

I’ll confess much of the time; I am not working my hardest when I think no one is looking. And it’s funny how I begin working my hardest when I know someone is looking. I don’t think that is a coincidence. But God understands our limited perspectives. I have what I would call a “tendency to look at the temporary.” My first thoughts are how I feel right then and there. I lack the discipline to stay consistent and thorough. You know what I’m talking about. I understand to an extent that Jesus will call to memory my walk, my ways, and my attitudes. But this habit, to look only a few feet in front of me, is a massive error.

Evaluate Who is really looking at us. Jesus is actively here. Don’t you want to impress Him? Paul talked about our true master when he wrote, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord. Not for men, since you know you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 3:23-24). This verse demonstrates the objective of concentrating solely on His approval and that this would be our only goal.

Is this not the truest role we fill as Christians? To concentrate always and completely on the fact we are accountable not to men and women but to our Jesus? The famous question is indeed then, “What would Jesus do?” The Word clearly says that we, as God’s children, cannot serve two masters. So in our earthly work, it is essential to see the service to God in our service to men and women. It is my belief this philosophy, if put into fundamental practice, will steer us towards what God designed us for and had intended our purpose to be. i
